Gorumara National Park: Gorumara National Park is a National Park in northern West Bengal, India. The park spread over 88sqkm is in Kalimpong subdivision and managed by the Jalpaiguri wildlife wing II. Today the area around the forest has the largest concentration of tourist accommodation in Dooars. The number of Jungle safari options has also increased over the years.
Chapramari Sanctuary: Chapramari Wildlife Reserve is close to the Gorumara National Park. Chapramari is about 30 kilometres from Chalsa and Lataguri in northern West Bengal, India. The Jeep turned to left and we were at the entry gate of the Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary. Though the forest is relatively small, it hosts a variety of flora and fauna. The forest is famous for its elephant population. Once can also visit the beautiful tea gardens of Jiti and Hila above Nagrakata here.
Murti Forest: Our hired car was ready there to take us to the resort of the West Bengal Forest Development Corporation at Murti. Murti village is placed at a stone throw from Capramari forest and Gorumara National Park; hence travelers can easily visit Capramari Forest and Gorumara National Park by hiring jeep. Murti itself has a lot to offer for nature lovers. Elephants are also known to frequent around here.
How to Reach North Bengal Jungles…..
By Rail: The most important railway Junction is New Jalpaiguri (NJP) and is situated 10 kilometers away from Siliguri.
By Air: Bagdogra airport is the nearest and major airport. Various parts of Dooars are approximately 3 - 4 hours’ drive from Bagdogra Airport.
By Road: Jaldapara is connected by National Highway Number 31 with Siliguri which is 140 kilometers away, Chapramari is 80 kilometers, Buxar is nearly 200 kilometers, Bindu and Jhalong is 105 kilometers and can be reached by car within 2 – 4 hours. Jaldapara / Hollong / Buxa Tiger Reserve are all very close to the National Highway number 31. There are two approach roads one is National Highway number 31 and the other is through Jalpaiguri which is bit longer from Siliguri.
